Frequently asked questions
Are the prices on GameDrop real?
Yes. We only show a price when we have checked it on the retailer's own product page, and we show the date it was checked. If we haven't verified a price, you'll see "See price at retailer", which takes you to that store's search for the item so you get today's price. We never make up or estimate prices.
Do you convert prices between currencies?
No. Each store's price is shown in its own currency (AUD, GBP, USD or CAD). Conversions can mislead because of shipping, taxes and import fees, so we keep it simple and honest.
Where do the release dates come from?
From publisher and platform announcements and trusted schedules (e.g. PlayStation, Square Enix and VGC). Dates can move, so we show TBA when there isn't a confirmed date and recommend checking the retailer before pre-ordering.
Which countries do you cover?
Australia is the default (JB Hi-Fi, EB Games, Big W, Amazon AU). You can switch to the United Kingdom, United States or Canada with the selector at the top, and your choice is remembered.
Is GameDrop the cheapest place to buy games?
We don't sell games. We help you compare retailers so you can find the best price for you. Prices change daily, and stores often price-match, so it's worth checking a couple before you buy.
How do I find a store near me?
Open the Stores page. It links to each retailer's official store finder, with addresses, opening hours and click & collect options.
Are the controls guides official?
They are general default layouts based on each genre and series, clearly marked as general. Games can change controls with patches, and most let you remap buttons in Settings → Controls.
Can I install GameDrop like an app?
Yes. On iPhone tap Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android or desktop Chrome, tap Install. Pages you have opened also work offline.
Does GameDrop earn money from links?
Not right now. In future some links may become affiliate links, which can pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes the prices or order we show.
Do you cover Nintendo Switch 2?
Right now we focus on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Switch 2 coverage may come later.
Who is Pixel?
Pixel is our friendly helper bot 👾. It gives quick scripted answers about releases, prices, stores and controls. For anything else, check this FAQ.
Is pre-ordering worth it?
It can be for launch bonuses or limited editions, but you usually don't need to. Many stores let you pre-order with a small deposit or none, so read their terms and cancellation policy first.
